A Review of Burlap....
Hey all!
So I came across this review of Burlap and thought I would share it with all of you . It gives you just a glimpse of where I've been spending so much of my time lately. While there really isn't much more than a brief mention of my cocktails, it does offer some insight into the awesome food Brian and Ben are cooking at Burlap. Let me know what you think!

Big Win!!
Hello friends!
So some exciting news to share with you. I just received word that I have been chosen as the winner of the San Diego 2011 Bombay Sapphire/GQ magazine Most Inspired Bartender competition held last week. I will be moving on to the National Competition to be held in Las Vegas next month!! I won with a cocktail called the Simmon-tini, against a very fierce and competitive field of great San Diego bartenders. It's a wonderful moment for what I've been trying to accomplish here in the great cocktail culture of San Diego. It seems like there are some exciting times ahead!!
Cheers!

Bombay Sapphire Competition
Greetings Friends!
Today I'm off to compete in the Bombay Sapphire competition to be held in Pacific Beach, CA at Tower 23! I competed in this event a couple summers ago, with an exciting cocktail that used liquid nitrogen. It was smoking fun! The judges were impressed, but I didn't come away with a win. So for today, I'm going to tone it down a bit and make a slightly more user friendly cocktail. For those of you close to what I've been doing lately, you'll know that I'm on a pretty big Barolo Chinato kick, so you'll see some of it in play with today's cocktail. And of course, I'm going to have to throw some fire into the mix somewhere in there!
Things have been very busy for me here in San Diego as we have just opened our new restaurant, Burlap. Anyone associated with opening restaurants will know that it is a serious time commitment and rather stressful. So the posts will resume again shortly as I try to get my legs back under me. Until then, Cheers!!
